Our story

On Calea Moșilor since 1935. Yours since 2024.

First known as Miorița, the cinema was almost empty when Susțin.org took it over in October 2024. A steady program, themed weekends and volunteers brought people back.

At Europa, the program doesn’t come from an algorithm. The audience and the volunteers make it.

Joia Voluntarilor

“Volunteers’ Thursday”: a cinema for a day.

Each time, a volunteer picks two films, promotes them and brings people in, with the team’s support.

Got a film you’d love to see on the big screen? Tell us, and it might make it into the program.

Volunteers

Come to lend a hand. Find out what you can do.

Around 100 young people keep the cinema open, week after week. You get real experience, new friends and free films on your days off.

  • Welcome the audience
  • Get the hall ready
  • Make TikToks
  • Write about films
  • Propose an evening

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find the answer? Write to us at event@cinemaeuropa.ro or on WhatsApp.

How much are tickets?

Themed weekends: 30 lei full price and 20 lei reduced, for pupils, students and pensioners. Some weekends also have a weekend pass. Special screenings and events may be priced differently: check each evening’s ticket page.

Can I buy a ticket at the door?

Yes, tickets are also sold at the door, while seats last. To be sure of a seat, book ahead online.

Can I return my ticket?

Yes, if you ask by the day before the event, at iabilet.ro/retur; on the day itself it’s no longer possible. The earlier you ask, the more you get back: the full ticket price more than 14 days ahead, 70% at 7–14 days, 50% at 1–7 days (or a larger iabilet voucher). iabilet’s fees are not refunded. Another option: sell it to someone else on dabilet.ro, iabilet’s resale platform. Log in with your iabilet account and list it for up to 20% more than you paid, or less, to sell it faster.

Are seats numbered?

No. Seats aren’t reserved: first come, first served. Try the balcony too: it’s an experience you won’t find at a multiplex.

Which screen is the film in?

The only one we have. Cinema Europa has a single screen, so you can’t get it wrong.

What language are the films in?

Films are shown in their original language, with Romanian subtitles.

Is the cinema accessible?

Yes. We have an accessible entrance and toilet for people with disabilities, and their entry is free.

I’d like to hold an event at Cinema Europa. The place is always full, so will it work?

Not necessarily. Even our own events don’t all do equally well: some concepts fill the room, others don’t, and behind every successful evening there is serious promotion work. If you’re thinking of an event here, you need two things: a free date outside our programme (which is set many weeks ahead) and a plan to bring your own audience. It may look like it runs itself, but this project lives on communication. If you have both, write to us at event@cinemaeuropa.ro.

What’s at the bar?

Drinks: coffee 7 lei · water and soft drinks 12 lei (Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero, Fanta, Sprite, Fuzetea, Tedi, Ana are mere) · Heineken, alcohol-free beer or Burn 15 lei

Salty: small popcorn 17 lei, large 27 lei · Alka pretzels 6 lei · small Doritos 12 lei, large 15 lei

Sweet: Bounty 8 lei · M&M’s 8 lei · Snickers 10 lei
